The Luca Maroni Prize: Cantina Cerbero Among Italy's Wine Finest

March 2025·5 min read

There are moments when years of work — the early mornings in the vineyard, the bold decisions in the cellar, the patience of those who know how to wait — find their recognition. For Cantina Cerbero, one such moment arrived with the Luca Maroni Prize, one of the most authoritative awards in the Italian wine world.

Who Is Luca Maroni

Luca Maroni is among Italy's most influential wine critics. For decades he has led one of the sector's most rigorous sensory analyses through the Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani, a reference guide for enthusiasts, restaurateurs, and wine professionals worldwide. The Maroni method is based on three fundamental parameters: consistency, softness, and integrity — a trifecta that measures wine quality objectively and repeatably.

Recognition for Our Wines

Among Cantina Cerbero's wines featured in the Annuario and awarded by Luca Maroni's evaluation, Dante — our Marche Rosso IGP from Montepulciano and Cannonau — stands out. Its olfactory complexity, tannic structure, and extraordinary length convinced the panel to recognise it among the finest wines of the Marche region.

Minosse, our structured Marche Bianco IGT, also received a notable score: its elegance — magnolia, wildflower honey, and marine salinity — particularly impressed the evaluators, who praised its coherence between nose and palate.

An Award That Belongs to the Territory

For the Rivosecchi family, this recognition is not just a personal achievement but a tribute to the entire territory of Cupra Marittima. The calcareous hills, the Adriatic breeze, the vineyards tended with traditional methods — all of this is present in every awarded bottle.

"When Luca Maroni tastes a wine, he tastes the land it comes from," the family often says. "And this has always pushed us to respect the terroir — without compromise, without shortcuts."

What This Means for the Future

The Luca Maroni Prize represents both a confirmation and a spur for Cantina Cerbero. A confirmation that agronomic choices — hand harvesting, low yields, respect for the vine's natural cycle — produce wines that the most discerning palates can recognise. A spur to keep pursuing excellence in future vintages, with the same passion and care the Rivosecchi family has brought to these vineyards for generations.

Come and uncork with us. The awarded wines are available at the cellar, online, and during guided tastings. We look forward to welcoming you to Cupra Marittima to celebrate this milestone — and those yet to come.
